Project Details

The Project

NorthConnex is a nine kilometre tunnel that will link the M1 Pacific Motorway at Wahroonga to the Hills M2 Motorway at West Pennant Hills, removing around 5,000 trucks daily off Pennant Hills Road. Approval for the construction and operation of NorthConnex was granted by the NSW Minister for Planning on 13 January 2015. Transurban and its partners in Westlink M7 have awarded the Design and Construction contract for North Connex to the Lendlease Bouygues Joint Venture (LLBJV). Early work activities started on site on 5 February.

GEM Industrial was commissioned to deliver to the welding, installation, testing and backfill of two rising mains ( DN225mm groundwater & DN630mm stormwater PN20 HDPE) in accordance with the project design drawings, design report and codes. The risings mains are approx. 1200m long and located within the M120 southbound tunnel between the Low Point Sump at ch 2200 and the Buffer Tanks located at the surface of M2 Shaft.
